Yacht charter in Seychelles: planning guide

Mahé is the catalogue's starting point. Compare an Inner Islands trip with any more distant proposal, and confirm the operator's limits before planning passages or flights.

Choose the island scope

A first comparison should distinguish Mahé, Praslin and La Digue from the much more distant Outer Islands. Tourism Seychelles treats these as different island groups. Ask where the yacht is handed over and which islands the contract permits you to visit. Do not assume that a Seychelles country label gives unrestricted access throughout the archipelago.

Let conditions shape the stops

Build a route with alternative anchorages for the conditions expected during your dates. Ask the base how the seasonal wind pattern changes the practical order of the islands, where shelter may be limited and which passages it recommends for your experience. Use current charts, forecasts and local instructions; a general destination guide cannot select a safe anchorage for a particular night.

Plan shore access and supplies

Ask about protected-area permissions, landing arrangements, moorings and any fees that sit outside the yacht rate. Check how water, food and fuel can be replenished on the proposed route. A hired skipper changes both the cost and cabin plan, so settle that decision early. Keep transfer and checkout time separate from the sailing time you expect to have.

Turn the guide into a shortlist

Open the destination search to compare the listed boats, then select your dates and refine the base, boat type and cabin requirements. Catalogue presence is not a confirmation of availability or permission to charter without a skipper. Ask for a complete proposal for the exact boat and week, including compulsory costs and the operator's booking terms.
